Sharjah 24: Members of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) held an extensive meeting dedicated to examining the main discussion axes of the Council session during which the policy of the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department (SRERD) will be reviewed. This comes within the framework of the Council’s parliamentary role and its ongoing commitment to further developing the government work system in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Meeting chaired by Chairperson of Public Utilities Committee

The meeting was chaired by Her Excellency Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi, Member of the Council and Chairperson of the Public Utilities Committee. Held at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah City, the meeting was attended by members of the Public Utilities Committee, along with a number of male and female Council members.

Also in attendance were Her Excellency Halima Humaid Al Owais, Deputy Chairperson of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), and Her Excellency Meera Khalifa Almuqarrab, Secretary General of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC). During the meeting, proposed questions were reviewed and enquiries directed to the department were formulated in preparation for the upcoming session, during which the department’s performance, programmes and future plans will be discussed.

Preparation for the upcoming parliamentary session

The meeting focused on reviewing the proposed questions and drafting the enquiries to be addressed to the department, in preparation for the anticipated parliamentary session in which the Council will discuss the performance of the SRERD, its programmes, future plans, and its role in supporting and regulating the real estate sector in the emirate.

Key axes of the parliamentary discussion

During the meeting, members addressed a number of key axes that will form the basis of the forthcoming parliamentary discussion. Most notably, these included the competencies of the SRERD, its role in regulating and developing the real estate market in Sharjah, and the department’s efforts in digital transformation and in simplifying procedures for registering and documenting property ownership.

Members also discussed the importance of highlighting service efficiency, transaction processing speed, and the development of electronic systems, alongside examining challenges that may face the real estate sector and ways to support efforts aimed at improving the investment environment and enhancing the sector’s sustainability in line with the emirate’s development directions.

Strengthening the Council’s oversight and legislative role

Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi stressed that, through the discussion of government departments’ policies, the SCC seeks to strengthen its oversight and legislative role and to achieve integration between the legislative and executive authorities. This, she noted, contributes to supporting the comprehensive development journey witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah and reflects the guidance and vision of the wise leadership in advancing government services and enhancing quality of life for the community.

Continuity of policy discussions across government entities

She further noted that the session dedicated to discussing the policy of the SRERD complements previous policy discussions held with a number of government departments and authorities during the current legislative term. These have included the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, and the Sharjah Department of Human Resources.

She affirmed that this approach reflects the Council’s keenness to study various vital sectors in a comprehensive and interconnected manner, in a way that enhances institutional performance efficiency and serves the public interest.
