The programme, part of the third pillar of the Awareness Ambassadors Programme, aims to empower children and youth to convey awareness messages to their peers and instil volunteering in a practical and community-based manner.
Spreading the concepts of volunteerism among children and youth peers
Jawaher Mohammed Abdullah revealed the launch of the “Volunteer Ambassadors” programme, organised by SSSD in collaboration with “Shajar” in Aljada. The programme, the third pillar of the Awareness Ambassadors Programme, aims to empower children and youth to spread the concepts of volunteerism among their peers and strengthen the presence of these values in society through practical application and field initiatives.
From the community to the community
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Jawaher Mohammed Abdullah confirmed that the programme aligns with the Ambassadors of Awareness motto, "From the Community and to the Community," and focuses on instilling a culture of volunteerism from child to child. This contributes to building early awareness of the importance of volunteer work and its positive impact on serving the community. She added that each ambassador will present 15 projects related to promoting a culture of volunteerism, in addition to implementing volunteer initiatives with their families. Upon completion of the requirements, each participant will receive two hours of volunteer work provided by the Sharjah Centre for Volunteer Work.
Jawaher Mohammed Abdullah explained that the programme began on Saturday with its first educational component, involving the first group of children who had previously completed the "Ambassadors of Safe Digital Living" programme and the "Honouring Parents" module. She clarified that this phase represents a field trip, introducing and educating participants, aimed at deepening their understanding of the concept of volunteer work and how to transform it from an idea or awareness message into a practical and impactful behaviour within the community.
Embracing volunteering
Jawaher Mohammed Abdullah concluded by emphasising that the programme's phases are designed to introduce the concept of volunteer work to children and young people in a simple and practical way, helping them embrace this culture and effectively and sustainably share it with their families and communities.
It is worth noting that "Shajar," an initiative by Arada, is a visitor destination and a massive nursery located in Aljada, Sharjah. It houses over 130,000 trees, which are carefully nurtured before being planted in Arada communities. It is also one of the largest agricultural nurseries in the UAE and aims to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible behaviour among community members.
