Sharjah 24 – WAM: The International Charity Organisation (ICO) strengthened its humanitarian role in 2025, implementing projects worth AED 195 million. Of this total, AED 170 million supported initiatives within the UAE, while AED 25 million funded projects overseas, reflecting the UAE’s vision of institutionalising charitable work and promoting sustainable humanitarian efforts.

Global humanitarian efforts

The ICO completed, implemented, and constructed 140 fully integrated charitable complexes abroad at a cost of AED 25 million. These projects targeted less-developed communities, aiming to improve quality of life and foster social stability.

Integrated development approach

The charitable complexes included mosques, schools, water wells, health centres, and other essential service facilities, linking education, healthcare, water access, and worship in a sustainable, long-term development framework.

Leadership and impact

Dr Khalid Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the ICO, highlighted that implementing 140 charitable complexes in a single year demonstrates the scale of the organisation’s efforts and partnerships. He emphasised the ICO’s commitment to integrated development projects that leave a lasting impact on beneficiary communities.

Domestic humanitarian initiatives

Inside the UAE, the ICO’s projects valued at AED 170 million benefited thousands of families and individuals, promoting social solidarity and reinforcing the values of giving.
