The world No. 1 triumphed over the defending champion Rublev 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 to reach the final of the Qatar Open (ATP 500).
The 22-year-old Alcaraz, competing in his first tournament since winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in early February, will face young Frenchman Arthur Fils in the final.
The 21-year-old French player reached his first ATP final since winning the Tokyo 500 in 2024, defeating Czech Jakub Mensik 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), who had caused one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by eliminating Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals.
After two hours and two minutes on court, Alcaraz extended his winning streak this season to 11 matches.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion said: “The way I handle each match really makes me proud. It’s something I try to improve, and it is starting to pay off. I’m proud of myself for improving and maturing.”
Fils’ first final since Tokyo Arthur Fils reached the final of an ATP event for the first time since his Tokyo 500 victory in 2024, having defeated last year’s runner-up Mensik.
