A total of 45 players participated, representing age groups from 40 to 60 years. They competed in three main categories: 40–50 years, 50–60 years, and over 60 years. In addition, a separate tournament was held exclusively for Emirati players.
The championship was attended by leaders of the UAE Table Tennis Federation, including Engineer Dawood Al Hajri, President, and Hassan Al Zarouni, Secretary General, alongside Obaid Yousef Al Qaseer, former President, Ibrahim Al Asam, federation member, and Mohammed Ali Al Qaseer, Executive Director of Sharjah Sports Club.
Engineer Suleiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, member of the Sharjah Sports Club Board of Directors and Head of Individual Games, emphasised that the championship recognises the contributions and sporting careers of veteran players. He stated that honoring these pioneers is a tribute to their dedication and achievements over the years.
Al Hajri noted that the club’s hosting of the tournament for the second consecutive year demonstrates its organisational capability and the trust placed in it by sports authorities. He added that the continuation of the event reflects the success of the previous edition, both technically and organisationally, and reaffirms the club’s commitment to supporting sports and engaging veteran athletes.
“The tournament goes beyond competition,” Al Hajri said. “It is a sporting and social occasion that fosters love, brotherhood, mutual respect, and appreciation among players. It is held in a Ramadan atmosphere characterised by fair play and high sportsmanship.”
