Emirates Drug Establishment confirms UAE medicine stock stability

Sharjah24: The Emirates Drug Establishment confirmed that the United Arab Emirates maintains a secure and sufficient strategic stockpile of medicines and medical supplies to meet local market needs.

Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Drug Establishment, said the UAE’s pharmaceutical sector is operating with a high level of stability and readiness.

He stressed that the country has adopted advanced policies and strategies to maintain a strategic reserve that ensures the availability of essential medicines for citizens, residents and visitors in adequate quantities for extended periods.

Pharmaceutical security a national priority

Al Hajeri noted that strengthening pharmaceutical security is a firmly established national priority, supported by a comprehensive strategic vision to ensure the sustainable availability, quality and safety of medicines under all circumstances.

He added that the establishment adopts a proactive approach grounded in risk assessment and emergency planning, enhancing readiness and strengthening public confidence in the UAE’s pharmaceutical system.

Continuous monitoring of medicine supplies

Meanwhile, Fatima Al Kaabi, Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, confirmed that the pharmaceutical sector remains stable and ready, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of medicines and medical supplies.

Dr Al Kaabi said the establishment conducts daily monitoring of medicine movement and stock levels at factories, warehouses and storage facilities through integrated systems with strategic partners.

She explained that these measures ensure the continuous availability of essential medicines and prevent shortages of key products, noting that pharmaceutical supply chains across the UAE are operating normally.

Stable indicators for medicine availability

Dr Al Kaabi added that current availability indicators for medical products remain stable and reassuring, supported by effective forward planning and strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, relevant authorities and the private sector.

She emphasised that pharmaceutical security is a key pillar of the UAE’s healthcare system, noting that the establishment follows a forward-looking strategy to ensure sustainable supplies of medicines and the health sector’s preparedness for all scenarios.
