Sharjah24: Kyle Walker has announced his retirement from international football after earning 96 caps for the England National Football Team.

The 36-year-old defender represented England in five major tournaments, including those that reached the finals of UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.

Emotional farewell

Walker expressed sadness over the decision but remained proud of his achievements with the national team.

He stated: “I feel sad to make this decision, but I’m incredibly proud of what I achieved with England.”

End of a long international journey

The former Manchester City defender, who now plays for Burnley, has seen a decline in form in recent seasons, making a potential call-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup less likely.

Walker’s final appearance for England occurred in a friendly match against the Senegal National Football Team in 2025.

Among England’s most capped players

Walker concluded by saying it had been a great honour to represent his country alongside a talented generation of players and coaches, adding that it was the right moment to close this chapter of his international career.

He is among the ten most capped players in England’s history.
