SAVW organises virtual Ramadan Majlis to promote giving culture

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) is organising a series of Ramadan Majlis during the holy month of Ramadan, in coordination and cooperation with the Department of Islamic Affairs, to strengthen institutional partnerships and integrate community roles.

The organisation of these Ramadan Majlis gatherings comes within the framework of the Award's annual programmes aimed at instilling the values of giving and volunteer work.

This year's Ramadan Majlis gathering include virtual lectures, allowing a wider segment of society to participate and benefit; one virtual lecture will be held for men and another for women.

Through Ramadan Majlis gatherings, the Award seeks to capitalise on the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan to enhance community awareness of the importance of volunteer work, and to instill the concepts of solidarity, compassion, and initiative to serve the community, thus contributing to supporting the spirit of social responsibility and spreading the culture of volunteering among all segments of society, men and women.

An opportunity to promote the values of goodness and giving

Suad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of SAVW, affirmed that organising Ramadan Majlis gatherings stems from the award's vision of making volunteering a way of life and an established culture within society. She noted that the month of Ramadan presents an ideal opportunity to reinforce the values of goodness and giving in individuals.

Al Shamsi stated, "At SAVW, we are committed to ensuring our programmes are innovative and resonate with the spirit of the community. The Ramadan Majlis gatherings serve as a vital platform for constructive dialogue and raising awareness of the value of volunteer work and its impact on community development. We believe that volunteering is a shared responsibility, and instilling these values in all age groups contributes to building a cohesive and cooperative society that reflects the civilized image of the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates."

This initiative is part of a series of programmes and activities implemented by the award throughout the year, underscoring its pioneering role in supporting volunteer work and motivating individuals and institutions to actively contribute to serving the community and consolidating the system of human values, of which the blessed month of Ramadan is a prominent season.
