The initiative forms part of the council’s strategy to sustain its community programmes during the holy month of Ramadan, reinforcing values of solidarity and compassion while preserving authentic Ramadan traditions and strengthening engagement with residents.
The council has already begun distributing date packs to eligible families in the neighbourhood and other districts of Sharjah. So far, 2,488 premium date packs have been delivered, with distribution continuing.
In addition, 10,200 packed envelopes of dates were handed over to the Emirates Red Crescent for further humanitarian distribution, bringing the total number of packs provided under the initiative to 12,688.
The handover ceremony was attended by Khalfan Saeed Al Marri, Chairman of the Council, Mohammed Rashid bin Jarsh, Vice Chairman, and council members Thani Huzayem Al Suwaidi, Khamis Ali Al Humaidi and Mohammed Hamad Al Sari.
Representing the Emirates Red Crescent were Dr Mohammed Salem Al Junaibi, Director of the organisation’s Sharjah Centre, and Mohammed Yousef Al Hammadi, Senior Executive for Fundraising at the centre.
At the conclusion of the event, the council exchanged words of appreciation with the Emirates Red Crescent delegation in recognition of their cooperation and humanitarian efforts.
Al Marri reaffirmed the council’s commitment to continuing its annual community initiatives, which aim to strengthen social bonds with residents, revive authentic Ramadan traditions and bring joy to families in need during the holy month.
