STD Committee confirms support for theater and creativity

Sharjah24: The 35th Sharjah Theatre Days ended with a distinguished closing ceremony attended by His Highness Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with His Highness Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi. Sara Mahkoum, a member of the organising committee, told "Sharjah 24” that the festival concluded successfully, highlighting a vibrant cultural scene that demonstrates exceptional artistic talent.

She noted that Sharjah continues to strengthen its role as a centre for theatre arts and a hub for creatives across the region.

Strong participation and Arab presence

The edition showcased 14 theatrical performances from across the UAE, alongside notable Arab participation, uniting a distinguished group of artists, critics, and researchers in the field of theatre.

Honouring excellence in theatre

The closing ceremony featured the recognition of award winners, with artist Mohammed Jaber receiving the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatre Creativity.

Actor Jamal Al Sumaiti was honoured as the Local Theatre Personality of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the theatrical movement.

Commitment to future development

Mahkoum expressed gratitude for the efforts of all participants, organisers, and audiences, reaffirming the commitment to supporting theatre, fostering creativity, and continuing to develop future editions with greater distinction and innovation.
