This comes under the generous patronage and continuous support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the diligent follow-up of his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, reflecting the great attention that the Emirate of Sharjah pays to the health, labour, and social welfare sectors, particularly those related to the care and empowerment of women and children.
The meeting, held at the Council's headquarters in Sharjah, was chaired by Dr Ruqaya Rashid Al Zaabi, Head of the Committee, and attended by committee members: Dr Hind Saleh Al Hajri, Rapporteur, and members Mohammed Saleh Al Ali, Issa Abdulrahim Al Zarouni, Ali Salem Al Shamsi, Fatima Mohammed Khusouni Al Ketbi, and Khalfan Saif Al Musafri. Also present from the Council's General Secretariat were Saif bin Suwaif Al Ketbi, Sumaya Jassim, Mohammed, and Abdullah Al Sufi.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in parliamentary work and the committee's plan for the upcoming period. This plan includes a series of field visits and coordination meetings with institutions concerned with the health and rehabilitation sectors, as well as institutions specialising in child welfare. The aim is to assess the current state of services provided, identify challenges, and formulate practical recommendations to contribute to the continued development of institutional performance.
The committee affirmed that the next phase will prioritise integration with various stakeholders through direct meetings with relevant institutions and bodies. This will enhance the effectiveness of the council's oversight and legislative role and contribute to supporting the Sharjah government's efforts to achieve sustainable social development and improve the quality of life for all members of society.
The committee chair also emphasised the importance of building upon the achievements of previous sessions and continuing to work according to a strategic vision based on field engagement. This includes providing parliamentary decisions with factual data that reflects the needs of the community, particularly in the areas of healthcare, rehabilitation, and services for children and families.
The meeting also saw the presentation of several future initiatives and a review of previous recommendations. These measures aim to strengthen institutional performance and align with the Emirate of Sharjah's aspirations to establish a comprehensive, human-centred development model, recognising people as the focus and ultimate goal of development.
