Sharjah24 - WAM: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced plans to acquire an 80% stake in Italian recycling firm Eco Green, subject to regulatory approvals, marking a key step in expanding its recycling operations in Europe.

Eco Green specialises in aluminium scrap collection, sorting, casting, and dross processing, handling over 70,000 tonnes annually. Its facilities in Villafranca and Nogara di Verona process and produce recycled aluminium, with an ongoing expansion expected to add 15,000 tonnes of capacity by the second half of 2026.

Expanding global recycling footprint

Following the deal, EGA’s recycling capacity is expected to exceed 400,000 tonnes annually across the UAE, Europe, and the US, with an additional 200,000 tonnes under development. The company continues to grow its global presence after previous acquisitions in Germany and the United States.

Growing demand for recycled aluminium

Industry forecasts indicate global demand for recycled aluminium will double by 2040, driven by sustainability goals. In Europe, recycled aluminium already meets about 40% of demand, with consumption expected to rise significantly in the coming years.
