His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, commented: “This certification represents a strategic milestone for SCTDA and the tourism sector in the Emirate of Sharjah. It contributes to developing our methodology for anticipating skills needs, designing and implementing more effective training programmes, and measuring their impact. This ensures that development efforts translate into tangible improvements in service quality and enhanced sector performance. It also embodies our firm commitment to developing national talent and supporting a more resilient and future-ready tourism ecosystem, in line with the Emirate of Sharjah’s long-term vision.”
The ISO 10015:2019 standard provides guidance for talent management and improving the quality of education and training within organisations by linking the design and implementation of training to competency needs and organisational objectives. For SCTDA, this achievement represents a structured model for developing competencies, improving service quality, and supporting a modern and adaptive tourism sector in Sharjah.
The ISO 10015:2019 certification encompasses all training and competency development services provided by the Vocational and Tourism Training Department to various tourism industries, including the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of training programmes.
This achievement, overseen by the Strategy Department, represents a significant step towards realising the strategic objectives of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA). It enhances the tourism sector's contribution to the emirate's economy, elevates the visitor and partner experience, and fosters agile, innovation-driven organizational performance and human capital development.
Furthermore, the ISO-compliant framework enables the SCTDA to anticipate future skills needs, support Emiratisation efforts through structured programmes to build national talent capabilities, and promote the adoption of modern and digital training methods to align with organisational development and performance sustainability requirements.
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority's attainment of ISO 10015:2019 certification reflects its ongoing commitment to developing an integrated tourism system based on performance quality and skills development, thereby enhancing the emirate's position as a leading tourist destination regionally and internationally. Through its specialised initiatives and programmes, the Authority continues to empower human capital, raise the efficiency of the tourism sector, and establish standards of institutional excellence that align with Sharjah's vision of achieving sustainable, knowledge-based, and innovative tourism development.
