The Nuggets led 39-25 in the first quarter, but the Timberwolves staged a strong comeback in the second, tying the game 64-64 at halftime before closing out the victory in the second half.
Edwards (30 points) was supported by Julius Randle, who scored 24 points, while Donte DiVincenzo added 16.
Canadian Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 30 points, while Serbian Nikola Jokic contributed 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists.
"We did what we expected," Randle said.
"When you start a road series, you aim to win. That's what we did, and now we're home with a couple of days to recover."
