Environmental drive in Shis Mountains launched by Khorfakkan Club

Sharjah24: Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Khayyat Al Hammadi, Head of Cultural Activities at Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, announced the launch of an environmental initiative in the Shis Mountains in cooperation with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) to mark Regional Environment Day.

Al Hammadi said the initiative aims to clean mountainous areas in Shis, preserve the natural environment, and raise community awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources.

Encouraging volunteerism and sustainability

The initiative included cleaning campaigns across the mountain region, while promoting a culture of volunteerism and reinforcing sustainability and environmental responsibility among community members.

Support from leadership

Al Hammadi noted that the initiative is supported and closely watched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, whose commitment to environmental protection continues to inspire community-driven initiatives.

He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to organising similar environmental programmes, emphasising that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and a key step towards a more sustainable future.
