UAE badminton champion eyes Dakar with European events

Sharjah24: Ryan Malhan, the UAE national badminton champion, is set to compete in two international tournaments in Slovenia and Austria as part of preparations for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026.

Malhan will participate in the Slovenia International Championship from 13 to 17 May, followed by the Austria International tournament from 21 to 24 May, as part of a structured programme to enhance his readiness for upcoming global competitions.

Intensive training programme

Currently, the player is taking part in an international training camp in Thailand, which runs until May 5. The camp is part of a high-performance preparation plan to improve technical skills, reaction speed, tactical awareness and overall match fitness.

Strategic preparation for Dakar

The programme is supervised by the UAE Sports Talent Care Committee in collaboration with the UAE Badminton Federation as part of a comprehensive plan to prepare the athlete for Dakar 2026.

Official support and monitoring

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports and Chairman of the committee, affirmed that the athlete’s preparation is closely monitored to ensure he meets international standards and is fully ready for major competitions.
