Sharjah24-WAM: Al Masaood Automobiles and Etihad Rail Freight, a subsidiary of Etihad Rail, have successfully completed the UAE’s first rail shipment of finished passenger vehicles to an automotive dealership.

The shipment involved transporting Nissan vehicles from ports on the Eastern Coast to the dry port at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi, marking a significant advancement in the country’s logistics and supply chain ecosystem.

Al Masaood Automobiles, the authorised distributor of Nissan, INFINITI and Renault in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, became the first automotive dealer in the UAE to use rail freight for finished vehicles.

Enhancing efficiency and reliability

The initiative enables seamless transport from port to destination, improving delivery timelines, operational efficiency and reliability. This is particularly critical in the automotive sector, where timely vehicle delivery directly affects the customer experience.

Irfan Tansel said the move reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing every stage of the customer journey with more efficient logistics solutions.

Expanding rail freight capabilities

Omar Alsebeyi noted that the milestone highlights the growing role of rail in transporting high-value, diversified cargo beyond traditional bulk goods, and in integrating seamlessly into modern supply chains.

Supporting sustainable transport

The shift to rail also supports environmental sustainability by providing a lower-emission alternative to road transport. This aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy and broader efforts to decarbonise key sectors.

Driving future-ready infrastructure

The achievement underscores the strength of the UAE’s integrated infrastructure ecosystem, in which collaboration between national projects and the private sector is enabling innovative, scalable and sustainable logistics solutions.
