The tournament was organised in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Education and the Sharjah Private Education Authority, bringing together government and private schools in competitive matches across different age groups.
In basketball, Al Resalah Scientific International School secured first place in the 8–9 age category, with Sharjah Model School for Girls second and Asma Basic Education School third.
In the 9–10 category, Asma School claimed first place, followed by Sharjah Model School for Boys, with the Emirates American School third.
In volleyball, Al Manar School won first place in Cycle 2, while Fatima Al Zahra School topped Cycle 3, with the Emirates American School in second place.
Alyazia Al Suwaidi, Head of Technical Preparation and Follow-up, said the championship is part of the Specialised Schools Initiative, which aims to promote sports culture, diversify physical activities and identify students’ talents.
Teachers highlighted the championship’s role in expanding sports participation, improving students’ understanding of game rules and teamwork, and boosting confidence and engagement in school activities.
Students also expressed enthusiasm, noting improvements in their skills, commitment and interest in sport.
Mariam Al Shehi said the Scientific Centre for Sports Performance Development uses such events to collect physical performance data, which helps develop training programmes tailored to students’ needs.
The championship reflects the ongoing efforts of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation to build a comprehensive school sports system that promotes participation, diversity in sport and the integration of physical activity into the educational environment.
