ALECGS reviews strategy at 15th board meeting

Sharjah 24: The Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah held the fifteenth meeting of its Board of Trustees, on Tuesday, via video conferencing, as part of its current 2025–2026 session. The meeting reflects the centre’s commitment to strengthening coordination and integration among member states and to continuing the development of its work streams in service of the Arabic language.

Attendance and leadership

The meeting was attended by representatives of the member states and chaired by Budoor Ibrahim Al Naqbi, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the current session, with the participation of His Excellency Dr Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of (ALECGS).

Opening remarks emphasise collaboration

In her opening remarks, Budoor Al Naqbi welcomed participants and expressed appreciation for members’ efforts and constructive cooperation. She praised the qualitative achievements realised during the current session and stressed the importance of continuing to work in a unified team spirit to enhance the status of the Arabic language and advance its teaching and learning across member states.

Review of agenda and progress

For his part, Dr Issa Saleh Al Hammadi reviewed the meeting agenda, addressing its key topics, which included following up on the implementation of recommendations from the previous meeting and assessing progress made in the centre’s programmes and initiatives. He also outlined future plans in light of the directions of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.

Strategic discussions and future plans

The board discussed several strategic issues on the agenda, including the development of specialised programmes, strengthening institutional partnerships, and expanding the scope of the centre’s scientific and cultural initiatives. These efforts aim to align with the aspirations of member states and keep pace with contemporary developments in Arabic language education.

At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the Board of Trustees commended the efforts of the centre’s administration, emphasising the importance of continuing to support high-quality initiatives and reinforcing joint work to achieve strategic objectives and consolidate the position of the Arabic language as a cornerstone of identity and culture in the Gulf states.
