In the second half, Shabab Al Ahli attempted to assert control and widen the gap, but Al Nasr mounted a comeback and sealed victory with a decisive basket five seconds before the final buzzer.
Following the match, Abdul Latif Nasser Al Fardan, President of the UAE Basketball Federation, presented Al Nasr with the trophy and gold medals, in the presence of federation board members and representatives from both clubs.
It is worth noting that Shabab Al Ahli had already secured the Federation Cup and the league title this season, while Al Nasr claimed the UAE Cup. One final competition remains on the calendar: the Vice President’s Cup.
Al Fardan stated that the final reflected the noticeable development in the level of the sport, praising the strong technical performance displayed by both teams. He added that the match demonstrated progress in the right direction towards further advancement.
He congratulated Al Nasr on their achievement and wished Shabab Al Ahli better luck, highlighting the importance of the upcoming period, which includes the national team’s participation in the Gulf Championship alongside remaining domestic commitments.
Salem bin Ali, board member of Al Nasr Sports Games Company and general supervisor of the basketball division, explained that the title was the result of collective effort and continuous support from the club’s management. He expressed gratitude to Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, club president, as well as chairman Marwan bin Ghalita and the board members for their role in supporting the team.
He added that reaching a third consecutive final and winning the title against a strong opponent highlights the team’s development and competitiveness, driven by stability and a clear strategic plan.
Al Nasr head coach Hossam Al Wakil expressed his delight at winning the title, describing the tournament as both difficult and highly valuable given the strength of the opposition. He noted that retaining the title for a third straight year reflects sustained effort and the trust of the club’s management.
Meanwhile, team captain Saleh Sultan emphasised that the victory was the result of significant effort from all members of the squad. He praised Shabab Al Ahli’s performance and acknowledged the contributions of the technical, administrative and medical staff in achieving this success.
