Sharjah 24: Sultan Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the National Agricultural Centre, stated that the “Impact Challenge” workshop, hosted at Sharjah Safari and organised by University of Al Dhaid in cooperation with a number of federal, local and national entities, focused on involving Emirati farmers in developing practical solutions to marketing and production challenges. This was achieved by listening to their views and gathering data and statistics to support the development of the agricultural production system in the UAE.

Highlighting sector challenges

Al Shamsi confirmed that organising the “Impact Challenge” workshop at Sharjah Safari, in the presence of a number of farmers, reflects the importance of engaging Emirati farmers in shaping the future of the agricultural sector. He noted that the workshop aimed to identify the real challenges facing farmers and to build practical approaches that enhance agricultural production and marketing.

Role of the National Agricultural Centre

In statements to “Sharjah 24”, Al Shamsi explained that the National Agricultural Centre plays a pivotal role in supporting Emirati farmers and providing a conducive environment for agricultural production, in cooperation with federal and local entities. He added that the workshop focused on collecting data and statistics from farmers on challenges related to marketing, production and other aspects linked to sector development.

Supporting innovation and partnerships

The Director of the National Agricultural Centre pointed out that the centre supports innovative farmers and funds pioneering projects, opening the door to modern solutions that contribute to developing agricultural production, enhancing farm efficiency, and keeping pace with market needs. He added that among the key support initiatives are the national platform, as well as the agricultural conference and exhibition, which bring farmers together with decision-makers and connect them with the private sector to build effective partnerships.

Commitment to sustainable growth

Al Shamsi concluded by affirming that the centre’s support for farmers is tailored to market needs and is based on directly listening to the real challenges they face, thereby strengthening national agricultural production and supporting the sustainability of the sector in the UAE.
