Sharjah 24: As part of its commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to providing the best services to all segments of society, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA)announced the launch of the “Let’s Reach Them” initiative in Khorfakkan. This humanitarian and service-oriented initiative aims to provide exceptional services to senior citizens with special medical needs, in cooperation with the Department of Social Services, and to offer them the necessary technical and technological support without requiring them to visit service centres.

Engineer Saud Abdul Aziz, Director of SEWA’s Khorfakkan branch, explained that the “Let’s Reach Them” initiative embodies the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide a dignified life and comfort for all residents of the emirate. It also reflects SEWA’s approach of shifting from waiting for customers to going to them, especially senior citizens with special medical needs.

Enhancing life quality

Abdul Aziz emphasised that the authority is not only striving to provide a service, but also to enhance the quality of life by responding to the urgent needs of a segment of society requiring special care. This necessitates increased attention to their health and safety, prioritising registered medical cases in repair and power restoration operations, and providing temporary generators or backup power units for critical cases during emergency maintenance.

Engineer Abdullah Al Naqbi, Acting Head of the Emergency Department in Khorfakkan, noted that coordination has been established with the Khorfakkan Social Services Department to identify cases, create a precise database, and establish a comprehensive logistical support network. Distinctive markings have also been placed on electrical panels to reach these beneficiaries as quickly as possible and facilitate the provision of electricity-related services.

Providing exceptional support

This initiative provides exceptional support and ensures the continuity of electricity for patients whose lives depend on home medical equipment, in cases of scheduled outages or unforeseen emergencies.

He pointed out that the authority has provided all the necessary technical and field resources, including technical teams and generators, to guarantee the success of the initiative in Khorfakkan and to alleviate any concerns these patients and their families may have regarding the sustainability of electricity in their homes.
