Built in two phases
The hospital will be developed in two stages. The first phase will bring 60 inpatient beds online, alongside 12 outpatient clinics, with a further 60 beds added during the second phase – bringing the facility to its full capacity.
Specialist team from across the world
Al Mheiri noted that the hospital will draw on specialist medical professionals from within the UAE as well as internationally to build a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, addiction counsellors, family therapists, physical therapists, and occupational specialists—all working within a model designed around the individual patient.
Important addition to healthcare landscape
The chairman described the project as a genuinely significant development for the country's healthcare sector — one that fills a gap that has long existed in dedicated mental health infrastructure. By bringing this level of specialised care to the private sector for the first time, the hospital is expected to strengthen Sharjah's position as a serious healthcare destination and attract both regional and international patients seeking high-quality psychiatric and rehabilitation treatment.
Meta Description: Sharjah Health Authority Chairman Dr Abdelaziz Saeed Al Mheiri announces the foundation stone laying of the Thumbay Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Hospital at Sharjah Healthcare City — the UAE's first private facility dedicated exclusively to mental health and rehabilitation, with 120 beds across two phases and operations expected by 2027.
