Sharjah24: S.S.C. Napoli secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League after defeating relegated Pisa Sporting Club 3-0 in the 37th and penultimate round of Serie A on Sunday.

Napoli, who failed to retain their league title this season, secured their place in Europe’s top club competition with a convincing away win.

Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay opened the scoring in the 20th minute, netting his 14th goal of the season across all competitions.

Just six minutes later, Kosovo defender Amir Rrahmani doubled the lead, putting Napoli firmly in control.

Hojlund seals victory

Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund completed the scoring with a third goal in stoppage time, securing the southern club’s victory and lifting their tally to 73 points, keeping them in second place.

The side coached by Antonio Conte can now finish no lower than fourth place with one round remaining.

Roma boost European ambitions

In the battle for the remaining Champions League places, A.S. Roma strengthened their position by beating rivals S.S. Lazio 2-0 in a heated Rome derby at the Olympic Stadium.

Defender Gianluca Mancini scored both goals with headers from corner kicks in the 39th and 65th minutes.

The match ended with both teams reduced to ten players each.

Juventus suffer setback

Roma moved into fourth place with 70 points, thanks to Juventus FC’s surprise 2-0 home defeat to ACF Fiorentina.

Fiorentina’s goals were scored by Cher Ndour in the 33rd minute and by substitute Rolando Mandragora in the 82nd. Juventus finished the match with ten men after Luca Ranieri was sent off in the 71st minute.
