Sharjah 24: Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Sharjah Sports Council, confirmed that the Khorfakkan Mountain Challenge has become one of the activities that enjoy great popularity among fans of running and hiking sports, adding that the fourth edition of the race attracted about 150 participants.
The activities of the fourth edition of the Khorfakkan Mountain Challenge kicked off on Sunday. The event was organised by the Sharjah Sports Council at the historic Al Rabi Tower track, in cooperation with a number of government agencies, institutions and sports clubs.

Al Dokhi said that the challenge has become one of the important events on the map of sporting activities in the Emirate of Sharjah.

He explained in an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24” that the fourth edition of the race attracted about 150 competitors of both sexes over the age of 16, adding that the race distance extended for 3 kilometers for the citizens category and another open one.

Al Dokhi added that the challenge, which is held in conjunction with the International Mountain Day, aims to perpetuate the concept of sport as a way of life, as well as its role in promoting the tourist attractions of the city of Khorfakkan.
