Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) will participate in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025, which will be held at ExCeL London from 4 to 6 November, under the auspices of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA). The event will bring together multiple public and private entities from Sharjah, reflecting the emirate’s dedication to promoting sports as a pathway for tourism and international engagement.

Representing the council at the event will be Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qasimi from the Public Relations Department, and Ali Imran from the Media Section at the Government Communications Department.

Strengthening Sharjah’s global sports and tourism presence

Mohammed Ali bin Hamad, Director of the Government Communications Department at SSC, emphasised that the council’s participation embodies the strategic vision set forth by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the patron of sports and athletes in the emirate.

He stated that this participation marks a significant step in strengthening cooperation between institutions and supporting the growth of both the sports and tourism sectors in Sharjah. The emirate’s success in organising major international sporting events establishes it as a leading destination for sports tourism, further increasing global recognition of Sharjah’s achievements and attractions.

Promoting sports as a driver of tourism

Bin Hamad observed that the event provides the council with an opportunity to engage with international organisations, open new channels of communication, and emphasise the role of sports in promoting tourism. He added that such initiatives bolster Sharjah’s global standing and produce positive outcomes for the emirate by strengthening its reputation as a lively centre for culture, sport, and sustainable tourism.
