The programme aims to develop competencies focused on leading development initiatives in sports, actively participating in sports decision-making, and efficiently managing institutional work. This edition involved an intensive training course in which 41 male and female employees from various departments of the Foundation took part. The course included a series of specialised workshops centred on building leadership skills and broadening professional knowledge in the sports sector.
The second phase showed the programme’s increasing progress, as participants took part in a series of specialised workshops on sports governance, sports marketing, and talent identification and development.
The sports governance workshop focused on planning, monitoring, and organisational staff, providing them with a knowledge framework on governance models in grassroots sports, policy-making mechanisms, and building administrative structures to support decision-making.
The sports marketing workshop aimed at media, public relations, and marketing staff, discussing the principles of sports brand management, audience-building strategies, digital marketing, and the role of technology and artificial intelligence in improving the fan experience.
Meanwhile, the talent identification and development workshop centred on coaches, specialists, and technical teams, covering the basics of talent detection, athlete career planning, assessment and testing methods, and international models for fostering young athletes.
These workshops were led by international coaches and experts specialising in each field, enabling participants to learn about the latest global practices and trends in sports development. This edition of the programme also examined the American experience in developing the sports system, with a focus on basketball and swimming, considered among the leading examples in sports marketing and fan engagement.
These workshops offered participants a practical understanding of modern leadership mechanisms and created a space for them to explore new tools in planning, decision-making, and building support structures for institutional development.
During the closing ceremony of the third edition, Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President of SWS, highlighted that the programme demonstrates the Foundation's dedication to investing in its staff.
She added: "The programme is a vital part of our empowerment efforts. The participants showed a high level of leadership and readiness to turn knowledge into tangible results that enrich the sports environment in Sharjah. Her Excellency Moza Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation, stated: "This programme confirms its position today as a pivotal milestone in our journey towards developing sports leaders with a clear vision and practical development skills. What we observed in the third edition reflects how systematic learning and firsthand experience can become genuine tools that aid decision-making within the sports sector and open broader horizons for participants to engage and influence."
She observed that diverse participants, including current and former athletes, administrators, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and coaches, help activate sports professions and strengthen women’s roles in various career paths within the sports system.
For his part, His Excellency Khalid Ibrahim Al Nakhi, Director of the Sharjah Capability Development, affirmed that the Sports Leadership Programme aligns with the Foundation's efforts to foster a generation of leaders capable of positively impacting the sports sector in the Emirate of Sharjah by developing their specialised and knowledge-based skills. He noted that the programme serves as a vital platform for discovering talent and honing participants' skills in governance, marketing, and talent identification, using applied case studies and showcasing best practices in sports development. This approach strengthens the Foundation's vision of preparing young leaders with the foresight and ability to bring about change.
The event concluded by honouring the participants, a gesture that reflects the organisation’s appreciation for their commitment and interaction. It also paves the way for a new phase of leadership within the sports departments and teams, aligning with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi to empower human resources.
