Sharjah24: In its mission to promote the role of literature in inspiring thought and spirit among young people, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators has launched Literature of Awareness, a programme aimed at reaffirming literature as a means of developing individual and collective consciousness.

The project is built on the belief that reading is more than just a leisure activity; it is an effective way of developing personal and social skills, enriching critical thinking, strengthening cultural identity, and supporting emotional well-being.

Focus on young readers

The initiative focuses on producing books for adolescents, using language and themes that connect with their realities and questions. It also provides space for dialogue, expression, and reflection on personal and social issues. Alongside its publications, the project includes training programmes, workshops, and discussion sessions that engage young people in creating literature and using it as a means for positive influence.

First release: Laith and Haila

The first title under the project, Laith and Haila, is written by Hessa Al Muhairi and Maha Al Khalawi, under the supervision of Rubu’ Qarn. Targeting ages 9 to 12, the book offers an interactive reading experience that blends literature, learning, and imagination. It follows the characters Laith and Haila on a journey through a world that merges reality and fantasy, raising questions about courage, self-discovery, and positive engagement with challenges.

The book was launched at the Children’s Centre in Al Qarayen during a special event featuring workshops inspired by the story, including “Code Break”, “The Gelatinous Monster”, and a drawing workshop with author Hessa Al Muhairi, where children made stickers depicting the story’s characters and concepts.

Second title: The Empty Frame

The project’s second work, The Empty Frame, is a new literary release that blends thought and creativity. It narrates the story of Humaid, who grapples with an inner conflict between reason and emotion, science and art, in a pursuit of self-understanding and the balance between his personal desires and his father’s expectations.

The teaser launch took an innovative approach, turning the book into a stage performance by the Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Theatre and Arts. It was showcased during the Sharjah International Book Fair as a live interpretation that brought awareness, thought, and beauty to the stage.

Continuing cultural impact

Through these initiatives, Literature of Awareness continues to build an inspiring cultural environment that elevates the role of literature in shaping consciousness and supports national efforts to prepare a cultivated, aware, and creative generation capable of expressing itself and contributing to its community.
