The exceptional participation aimed to highlight how children see images from a unique artistic perspective, focusing on developing their photography skills, empowering them artistically, boosting self-confidence, and showcasing emerging talents in the visual arts field.
Sharjah Children’s participation featured several key activities, including a panel discussion titled “The Image Through Children’s Eyes,” with the participation of members of the Sharjah Children Shura Council.
The session addressed several themes, including the image as a language and a means of expressing personal feelings and as a tool for conveying cultures. A second theme explored the role of images in building national identity and values, as well as the media and digital impact of images circulated on children’s platforms and their influence on identity, tolerance, cooperation, and giving. The final theme focused on the role of images in developing imagination, creativity, and discovery of the world.
The play “Memory Lab” by the Children’s Theatre marked the first-ever theatrical participation of Sharjah Children at the Xposure festival since its launch. The play centres on old photographs and their connection to memory, presenting them as a form of life.
Sharjah Children also took part in a practical photography walk designed to develop their artistic skills and enhance cultural and heritage awareness through introducing them to Sharjah’s historical nd civilisational landmarks, as well as visiting old photography studios.
During Xposure International Photography Festival 2026, a photograph taken by the talented child Sara Ismail Al Hosani was selected for display as part of the REearth Studio Exhibition participation, following her entry in the “Imagine Tomorrow” competition.
She was honoured at the Xposure festival ceremony after receiving the Jury Choice Award, as well as third place in the Excellence Award in the Artificial Intelligence Art category.
On this occasion, Khawla Al Hawi, Director of Sharjah Children, stated that the institution’s participation in the festival comes within its mission to advance children’s skills in photographic arts and provide them with a platform to express their abilities and creativity, in line with its sustainable goals and ongoing efforts to inspire talents and support their future journey.
She added that Sharjah Children is committed to enhancing and developing children’s capabilities and empowering them to become aware and influential members of their community, affirming the institution’s dedication to providing a distinguished educational and recreational environment characterised by innovation and inclusiveness that encourages children to explore and develop their talents.
