Sharjah24: Rubu’ Qarn Science and Technology Centre in Sharjah announced a new strategic partnership with the American School of Creative Science (ASCS) to improve mathematics skills among young students, building on the success of the Kumon programme implemented at Sharjah Children.

The partnership will involve integrating the specialised mathematics programme into the school curriculum for Year 2 students at ASCS, in collaboration with the Kumon Institute of Education.

It also seeks to increase community awareness of the importance of developing mathematical skills from an early age, helping to prepare a generation capable of understanding the fundamentals of science and technology and achieving future excellence.

Strengthening core skills through innovative methods

The programme concentrates on enhancing fundamental mathematics skills through an innovative approach that blends creative thinking with systematic analysis.

It is based on progressive enrichment exercises designed to enhance accuracy and mastery among students, starting with basic arithmetic and advancing to more complex mathematical concepts.

This structured learning model helps students build a strong and lasting knowledge base, while fostering self-directed learning skills, improving concentration, and boosting self-confidence.

Supporting academic performance and future readiness

The programme uses a practice-focused learning approach that encourages repetition, deduction, and concentration, resulting in improved academic results in mathematics.

Proven success in previous editions

The initiative builds on the notable success of earlier editions of the programme, where students showed clear improvements in academic performance, particularly in reasoning and calculation skills.

Participants also demonstrated improved concentration, stronger mental arithmetic skills, and a greater capacity for independent learning, reflecting the programme’s positive influence on students’ educational growth.
