The Supreme Organising Committee announced the news during a press conference held on November 20 at the Sharjah Sports Council offices. The attendees of the press conference included Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; Mohammed Obaid Al Hisan, Secretary-General; Abdulmalik Mohammed Jani, Chairman of the Organising Committee; Noura Al Jasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation and Vice-Chair of the Committee; Salem Al Mazrouei, Vice-President of the Federation; Bakhit Saeed Al Qurs, Tournament Director; several committee heads; and Ferne Gliders, Head of Tournament Development.
The conference discussed the preparations in Khorfakkan and the match scheduling. The men's and women's triples group stages began on Thursday, December 11, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the finals taking place Friday. Team bouts will begin on Saturday, December 13, with the finals on Sunday, December 14.
The 11 participating countries are the UAE, Egypt, Australia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Venezuela, and China, as well as Hong Kong Special Administrative District. Matches in the triples events will be best-of-five sets, with the first team to achieve 9 points winning the set if they lead by two points. In the event of a 12-12 draw, the following point determines the set. Team events consist of four matches: women's doubles, men's doubles, women's triples, and men's triples, each played for 15 points, with the first team to achieve 60 points winning the match.
In a recorded greeting, BWF’s Khunying Patama lauded Sharjah as a starting point for the sport, highlighting the UAE and the emirate's reputation for hosting major athletic events. She mentioned Khorfakkan's coastline setting and natural beauty as appropriate for the tournament's debut.
Noura Al Jasmi underlined that the championship's success is due to the support of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, as well as the combined efforts of the federation, Sharjah Sports Council, and supporting groups. Abdulmalik Jani regarded the tournament as historic, citing the UAE as the birthplace of the global championship. He greeted all participants and guests, wishing them a happy stay.
The committee has constructed a fully equipped beach stadium with spectator stands for the opening ceremony on December 10th, which will include a number of cultural and entertainment segments. In addition to the competition, there will be community projects and cultural events.
The general group draw puts Hong Kong SAR, Bulgaria, and Nigeria in Group 1; China, Egypt, and Venezuela in Group 2; the UAE, Brazil, and Azerbaijan in Group 3; and Germany, Australia, and Indonesia in Group 4. In the men's triples, Group 1 contains the UAE, Brazil, and Indonesia, while Group 2 includes Egypt, Bulgaria, and Azerbaijan. Group 3 is made up of Hong Kong SAR, Nigeria, and Australia, while Group 4 includes Germany, China, and Venezuela. Group 1 for the women's triples consists of China, Hong Kong SAR, and Australia. Group 2 consists of the UAE, Germany, and Nigeria; Group 3 contains Brazil, Indonesia, and Venezuela; while Group 4 consists of Egypt, Azerbaijan, and Bulgaria.
