Recognised as one of the region’s leading scientific events, the forum brings together over 180 participants from Arabian Peninsula countries including Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, and Kuwait, alongside contributors from Jordan and several global scientific and research institutions. It has established itself as a key annual gathering for environmental and wildlife professionals.
This year’s programme will feature sessions combining scientific and practical training elements. Topics include the impact of invasive alien species on local ecosystems, causes and mitigation of seabird mortality, and specialised student workshops to develop skills in environmental and wildlife sciences.
The forum will also host a scientific session dedicated to the global assessment of the Red List of sea snakes, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as part of ongoing international efforts to protect endangered species.
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah continues to coordinate logistical and scientific efforts to ensure a successful forum. This includes organising working groups and finalising the list of speakers and session experts. Hosting the forum at Sharjah Safari reflects the emirate’s commitment to supporting environmental studies, species conservation programmes, and providing an ideal platform for interaction among researchers from different countries.
The forum aims to enhance research collaboration across the Arabian Peninsula, facilitate knowledge exchange, update data on threatened species, and formulate
scientific recommendations that contribute to sustainable conservation strategies and environmental planning.
