The event was attended by municipal officials, members of the Municipal Council, and department heads, alongside active community involvement from local residents. The opening highlighted the importance of tree planting as both an environmental and cultural asset that enhances the city’s landscape and promotes a tradition of greenery within the community.
Khorfakkan Municipality highlighted that Tree Week is an annual event that promotes environmental awareness and encourages community participation in planting trees and maintaining green areas. The opening of Al Ghazir Park signifies one of the main activities of the week, aimed at developing sustainable green spaces within residential neighbourhoods.
The celebration offered a variety of activities for children, such as seedling planting, environmental games, and awareness workshops highlighting the importance of trees in climate protection and ecological stability. The programme also included community initiatives designed to promote environmental responsibility and foster a strong connection to nature among younger generations.
The Municipality will continue organising awareness programmes and tree-planting activities across various neighbourhoods throughout the week, boosting community involvement and supporting efforts to create a greener, more sustainable Khorfakkan.
