A formal ceremony was held at Al Hamriyah Beach Park, attended by local residents, community leaders, and representatives of the awarding organisation. The event highlighted the significance of this achievement for Al Hamriyah as a notable environmental destination.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sultan Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities Affairs; His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality; His Excellency Hamid Saif bin Samha Al Shamsi, Chairman of Al Shamsi Municipal Council; and several officials.
His Excellency Sultan bin Huwaiden commended the municipality’s ongoing achievements in sustainable development and urban environment enhancement, emphasising that these efforts mirror the leadership’s vision for Sharjah as a pioneering example in environmental management.
His Excellency Mubarak Al Shamsi confirmed that retaining the Green Flag for a third year demonstrates the municipality’s dedication to international best practices in planning, management, and providing safe, eco-friendly public spaces. He remarked that this achievement aligns with the annual Tree Planting Week initiative, which promotes environmental awareness and increases green areas.
Al Shamsi emphasised the Department of Municipalities Affairs' role in promoting best practices in urban planning and environmental facility management. He underlined that the Green Flag recognition results from ongoing efforts to enhance park services and adhere to international standards.
He mentioned that raising the Green Flag during Tree Planting Week supports national efforts to promote environmental awareness and encourage tree planting and green-space preservation. The municipality will continue launching initiatives that promote sustainability and improve the region’s environmental health.
This achievement contributes to the municipality’s record of success, reaffirming its commitment to developing high-quality public parks that align with Sharjah’s sustainable environmental vision. The ceremony ended with the raising of both international flags, attended by municipal staff and environmental specialists.
