FCRT joins Madrid Conference on West–Islamic world dialogue

Sharjah24: The Foundation for Culture and Religious Tolerance (FCRT) took part in an international conference titled “The West and the Islamic World: A Call for a Common Approach”, held at the Casa Árabe hall in Madrid. The event brought together leading intellectual, religious and academic figures engaged in civilisational dialogue and the promotion of tolerance.

The conference was attended by Dr Musabih Saeed Al Ketbi, Director General of FCRT, along with several invited guests.

Key address by Dr Mohammed Al Issa

 The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr Mohammed Abdulkarim Al Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and President of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Madrid. He presented insights underscoring the importance of building bridges of communication between societies and highlighting the true values of Islam that promote coexistence and mutual understanding.

Recognition of contributions

 At the close of the event, Dr Musabih Al Ketbi honoured Dr Al Issa, presenting him with the FCRT Medal in appreciation of his inspirational role in strengthening dialogue between peoples and promoting shared human values.

Commitment to dialogue and coexistence

 Dr Al Ketbi stressed the importance of such conferences as platforms bringing together thinkers and decision-makers from East and West. He noted that strengthening mutual understanding between the West and the Islamic world is now a necessity imposed by contemporary challenges.

He affirmed FCRT’s commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for cultural cooperation and reinforce the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace.

Promoting cultural exchange

Al Ketbi highlighted the importance of community events that encourage Arab–European cultural exchange. He underlined the central responsibility of religious leaders, media figures and academics in spreading awareness and developing a rational discourse that contributes to more stable, open and cohesive societies.
