Sharjah 24: Amidst a joyous atmosphere coinciding with the UAE's 54th Eid Al Etihad, Sharjah Children—an affiliate of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Leaders and Innovators—organised a celebration on Thursday, November 27th, across all its centres in Sharjah city and the Central and Eastern Regions. The event welcomed approximately 800 children along with their parents.

Instilling national identity and pride

The celebration aimed to instill values of belonging and national identity in children, strengthen their pride in their country, and deepen their awareness of the UAE’s history and heritage. It also provided an outlet for children to express their talents through diverse activities and workshops held in cooperation with several government entities and institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Creative and cultural activities for children

A rich variety of segments allowed children to express their love for their country and showcase their talents in a festive environment. Activities included poetry recitation, national songs, and folk dances. Art corners featured traditional Emirati clothing design (Mukhawar), canvas colouring, pottery, henna painting on fabric, and traditional games that reinforced their connection to Emirati heritage and identity.

Interactive corners and heritage experiences

The celebration featured several interactive corners that were especially popular among children, including a photo studio to capture their joyful moments, a heritage competitions corner that helped them engage with national history, and a traditional food corner offering Emirati dishes and sweets for children and parents to enjoy.

Leadership perspective

Khawla Sharif Al-Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children, emphasized that celebrating Union Day is a cherished annual occasion that embodies pride and patriotism. She highlighted that the organization seeks to instill loyalty and national belonging in children from a young age by providing opportunities for them to express their love for the UAE freely and genuinely. She also noted the importance of fostering cooperation and community engagement with national entities and institutions.

Collaboration with Sharjah government entities

Sharjah Children organised this event in collaboration with several government agencies and institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, including Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Science and Technology, UAE Sports for All Federation, Sharjah Museums Authority, and Al Madam City Municipality.
