Sharjah 24: Sharjah Charity International (SCI) emphasizes that volunteer work is a key foundation for building community awareness and strong bonds among people. Volunteering is not just about giving time; it’s about making a real difference in people's lives and promoting humanitarian efforts across various areas. By volunteering, individuals develop a sense of responsibility and strengthen their connection to community issues, ultimately helping to shape a brighter future for everyone. This message comes in celebration of International Volunteer Day, which is recognized every year on December 5th.

Mohammed Al Mulla, who oversees the Volunteer and Community Service Office at SCI, highlighted the importance of volunteer work as a vital part of humanitarian efforts and social responsibility. He mentioned that the organization welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, providing them with a structured environment to get involved in various initiatives, both locally and internationally. He emphasizes that volunteering boosts self-confidence, helps develop new skills, and offers hands-on experiences that enhance personal growth.

Al Mulla explained that volunteering allows people to better understand community needs and interact with diverse groups, fostering a spirit of empathy and teamwork. This experience also equips young people with essential life skills like time management, decision-making, and effective communication, which are often hard to develop through school alone. He noted that young volunteers become more aware of their community’s challenges and are better prepared to take on positive roles in their careers and personal lives. Volunteering also benefits society by raising awareness and strengthening connections among individuals.

Additionally, SCI has introduced a professional volunteering program that utilizes specialized skills to support humanitarian causes. For example, Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, a pediatric cardiology consultant, has volunteered with the Little Hearts campaign, helping to perform numerous heart surgeries for children in need. His story illustrates how specialized knowledge can make a significant difference when combined with a willingness to volunteer.

Al Mulla also pointed to the essential work done by volunteers in management, accounting, and fundraising roles. These volunteers help oversee donation boxes and ensure that contributions reach those in need, particularly during special times like Ramadan. Their efforts play a crucial role in maintaining donor trust in SCI's operations. He encouraged everyone interested in making a difference to join SCI's various programs and be a part of the charitable efforts that positively impact the lives of many people, both locally and around the globe.
