The award praised the major role played by state institutions and both governmental and private sectors, along with the sincere efforts of individuals and volunteer teams who work with a sense of responsibility to serve the community and enhance its civilised image. It emphasised that these combined efforts have made the Emirate of Sharjah a leading model in supporting voluntary initiatives and community-responsibility programmes.
On this occasion, Dr Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, said that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, represent the roadmap on which the award relies in supporting community initiatives and recognising every voluntary effort that contributes to serving the nation.
Al Hammadi said that International Volunteer Day is an opportunity to reaffirm the vital role of volunteers, who are essential partners in development and an honourable example of the values of giving that Sharjah and the UAE seek to instil in future generations. He added that the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work has always been a leading national platform for honouring those who leave humanitarian impact and for encouraging volunteer initiatives that serve the community and contribute to its progress.
He also noted that the award continues to receive submissions and registrations for its 23rd cycle, calling on governmental and private institutions, volunteer teams, and individuals of all ages and categories to submit their files and benefit from the opportunity to participate. The award will continue receiving entries until 31 December through its official platforms.
