She explained that the home forms a key pillar of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City initiative, offering a comprehensive range of services in line with recognised professional standards. The aim, she said, is to provide older residents with a supportive setting that responds to their varying needs, in keeping with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to uphold quality of life for senior citizens. These efforts, she added, strengthen Sharjah’s position within the Global Network for Age-Friendly Cities and support the emirate’s wider strategic objectives in this field.
In her remarks to "Sharjah 24", Al Qatari said the home runs a series of programs and activities throughout the year. Among the most prominent are the “Khuttar Al Dar” initiative and the Seniors Forum, alongside a range of interactive events designed to encourage community ties and ensure that older people remain active participants in social life.
She noted that healthcare provision at home includes round-the-clock nursing, customised nutrition plans, physiotherapy, and daily personal care. Continuous improvements are also made to the buildings and facilities to better suit residents’ needs, promote independence and create surroundings that are both safe and conducive to an active, healthy lifestyle.
Al Qatari concluded by affirming that the Elderly Care Home continues to develop its services in line with leading international practices in social care, reflecting Sharjah’s ambition to remain a city that respects its senior citizens, safeguards their dignity and meets their needs in a sustainable and responsible manner.
