Sri Lankan Army praises UAE SAR team’s efficiency

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Sri Lankan Army has commended the UAE Search and Rescue (SAR) team for its high efficiency, strong capabilities in challenging environments, precise field operations, and swift arrival at affected sites.

Ongoing missions in flood- and landslide-hit areas

The UAE SAR team continues its field efforts in Sri Lankan regions impacted by severe floods and landslides. Today, the team recovered another body in the Wattegama area, raising the total number of recovered bodies to 19 since the start of operations.

Operations temporarily suspended due to weather

Search efforts were paused due to heavy rainfall and renewed landslides. Operations are scheduled to resume tomorrow morning to continue searching for missing individuals.

Advanced tools and expertise supporting recovery

The team is deploying advanced equipment and specialised search dogs to locate missing persons beneath debris and soil, as part of the UAE’s rapid humanitarian response to support the people of Sri Lanka.
