Consultative Council Committee reviews planning recommendations

Sharjah 24: The Preparation Committee for Recommendations in Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) held an extended meeting yesterday morning at the council’s headquarters to discuss the outcomes of the fourth session, which was dedicated to reviewing the policy of the Department of Planning and Survey. The discussion formed part of the work of the third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term.

Attendance

 

The meeting was chaired by Jassim Mohammed Al Hannawi Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Committee, and attended by Ibrahim Mohammed Juma Al Mansouri, Issa Abdullah Al Kalbani, Sultan Ali Al Musafri, and Dr Obaid Ahmed Khassaw Al Naqbi. Also present were Engineer Jameela Al Fandi Al Shamsi, Council Member and Chairperson of the Public Utilities Committee, Her Excellency Meera Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Secretary General of the Council, as well as Othman Hamdi and Sumaya Mohammed Jassim from the General Secretariat.

 

 

Key discussion points

 

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the main observations, proposals and views raised by council members during the general session. It also examined the principal themes on which the recommendations will be based, including urban planning policies, updating master plans, housing and street numbering, land-use regulation, coordination mechanisms with service entities, and measures to improve the quality of infrastructure.

 

 

Future planning and sustainability

 

The committee discussed the importance of formulating recommendations that strengthen the department’s role in future planning, support urban sustainability, and enhance quality of life across the cities and regions of the emirate.

His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Hannawi Al Naqbi emphasised the committee’s commitment to drafting precise recommendations that reflect community needs and align with Sharjah’s vision for comprehensive and sustainable development in line with sound urban planning.

 

 

Next steps

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee approved the final draft of the recommendations in preparation for their submission to the council at a forthcoming session, supporting the department’s efforts and the achievement of the emirate’s planning objectives.
