Sharjah24: Sharjah Civil Defence Authority honoured Saud Ahmed Al Jarwan, a 10-year-old child, in recognition of his responsible behaviour and strong sense of community awareness after he promptly reported a vehicle fire by calling the Civil Defence emergency number (997).

The honour was presented by Brigadier Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, as part of the Authority’s efforts to promote a culture of safety and encourage positive behaviours that help protect lives and property.

Calm response helped speed emergency intervention

The incident dates back to when the operations room at Sharjah Civil Defence received a call from Saud reporting a fire in a vehicle. During the call, the child demonstrated remarkable calmness and clarity, accurately conveying essential information and guiding the operations officer to the exact location of the incident without hesitation or confusion.

His responsible conduct contributed significantly to accelerating the arrival of specialised teams at the scene, enabling firefighting crews to respond swiftly and take the necessary measures to contain the incident in a timely manner.

Civil Defence praises community awareness

Brigadier Al Shamsi praised the child’s awareness and responsible behaviour, stressing that prompt reporting and the accuracy of information are key factors in the success of emergency response operations. He noted that community cooperation is a cornerstone of public safety systems.

He added that the incident reflects the positive impact of ongoing awareness campaigns implemented by the Authority and serves as an exemplary model of how children can contribute effectively when equipped with safety knowledge.

Promoting a culture of shared responsibility

The recognition carries an important awareness message that safety consciousness is not limited by age, but begins with knowledge and sound judgement in critical moments. Sharjah Civil Defence Authority continues its efforts to enhance community awareness about the importance of accurate and rapid reporting of incidents, reinforcing a culture of shared responsibility among all members of society as part of a comprehensive vision for a safer and more prepared community.
