The award confirmed that applications for the current cycle will be accepted until December 31, 2025, and it invited all officially recognised and licensed schools, universities, and institutes in the UAE—whether government, private, or non-profit—to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their volunteer initiatives and projects.
This stage is part of the award's major purpose of showing how important schools are for encouraging a culture of volunteering and teaching students the values of giving and social responsibility through educational programs and volunteer projects all year long.
The award also lets schools compete for the "Distinguished Supporter of Voluntary Work Award" to honour their work in creating a welcoming environment for volunteers both inside and outside the school and to encourage students and staff to be more socially responsible.
Suad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, said that the award puts a lot of attention on schools because they see them as a beneficial way to teach future generations to give. She said that these organisations are important for getting kids to volunteer, and they set positive examples of kindness and charity.
Al Shamsi stated that, by emphasising educational institutions, the award hopes to encourage all schools and colleges to share their triumphs and efforts while competing for best practices using clear and modern evaluation standards. She stressed that the award will keep bringing attention to the many eligible categories to create more fair chances and encourage fair competition in community services.
Government agencies, non-profits, private companies, schools, volunteer groups, and individuals can all apply for the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work.
