Sharjah24: The Sharjah Archives received a group of students from Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi during an educational visit aimed at introducing them to its operational framework and to the latest practices and technologies used in the preservation and management of government paper and electronic records. The visit also highlighted the Archives’ efforts in organising the preservation of confidential documents, as well as mechanisms for classification, coding and controlled access in line with the highest international standards.

Exploring modern archiving technologies

The visit included a tour of the Records Secretariat facilities, including specialised technical laboratories, where students learned about modern document processing techniques, restoration procedures and digital indexing. They were also introduced to electronic document management system projects and advanced solutions that ensure ease of access, continuity of preservation and improved efficiency of services provided to government entities and beneficiaries.

Promoting awareness and knowledge sustainability

The visit forms part of the Sharjah Archives’ commitment to sustaining knowledge and raising awareness of the importance of archival work. It also serves as a bridge for cooperation between academic institutions and government entities, helping students understand the role of document preservation in safeguarding national memory and preserving it for future generations.
