Sharjah 24: The Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), chaired by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, decided at its second regular meeting to appoint Abdullah Sultan Al Dah as Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 11th Sharjah International Cycling Tour, which will be held from January 23 to 27, 2026.

Gratitude

The Council expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Abdulmalik Mohammed Jani, the former Chairman of the Committee, for his dedicated efforts in previous editions, which ensured the continued success of this international event.

Sharjah Cycling Club

The meeting was held at the Council's headquarters. Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi opened the meeting by praising the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his directives to establish the Sharjah Cycling Club. He emphasised that the new club will contribute to supporting and developing the sport at both the emirate and national levels, and wished the club's Board of Directors, chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr bin Hamad bin Majid Al Qasimi, success in achieving its mission and objectives.

New appointments

The Council appointed several members to head various programmes and committees. Dr Abdullah Abdulrahman bin Sultan, Vice President, was appointed to head the Governance Programme; Abdullah Sultan Al Dah was appointed to head the Gliding Club Project Study Committee; Adel Saleh Al Hammadi was appointed to head the Electronic Games Club Project Study Committee; Dr Saif Ahmed Al Zaabi was appointed to head the Public Awareness Committee; Dr Abdulrahman Al Yasi, Chairman of the Committee for Activating Sports Facilities; Dr Abdullah bin Malih, Chairman of the Committee for Studying the Law Regulating the Council; Dr Omar bin Hanifa, Chairman of the Committee for Raising the Efficiency of Legal Committees; and Hanan Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Committee for Initiatives and Future Projects.

Results

The Council also reviewed the outcome of the meeting with the heads of football companies in the Emirate. Dr Omar bin Hanifa recommended unifying the internal regulations of clubs, football companies, and employee contracts. Dr Saif Al Zaabi recommended standardizing club names.

The Council also discussed with Dr Abdullah bin Malih the progress of the field survey conducted across the Emirate's clubs regarding His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's major cultural project. It was decided that the survey's findings would be discussed in detail at the next meeting. The Council also reviewed the report presented by Hamad Salem Al Bimani on the digital transformation project.

The meeting was attended by Dr Abdullah Abdulrahman bin Sultan, Vice President; Mohammed Obaid Al Hosan, Secretary General of the Council; and members: Abdullah Sultan Al Dah (remotely); Dr Abdulrahman Al Yasi; Dr Omar Hassan bin Hanifa; Dr Abdullah Mohammed Al Malih; Hanan Mohammed Al Mahmoud; Dr Saif Ahmed Al Zaabi; Engineer Adel Saleh Al Hammadi; and Mohammed Ali bin Hammad, Board Rapporteur.
