SCC reviews SDHR policy ahead of its parliamentary session

Sharjah24: The Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security Affairs and Public Utilities Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reviewed the key features of the policy of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR) in the Government of Sharjah, its competencies and organisational and developmental roles, during the Committee's reception of the Chairman of SDHR, His Excellency Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah and Chairman of the Department, and his companions from various departments of the Department.

The meeting, held on Monday morning at the Council's headquarters in Sharjah, was part of the work of the third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term. It also prepared for an upcoming session that the Council will dedicate to discussing the policy of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR), assessing its work, and outlining its future plans.

Committee members in attendance

The Chairman of the Department was received by Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi, Chairperson of the Committee; Ahmed Obaid Al Awasiyah Al Zaabi, Rapporteur of the Committee; Ahmed Rashid Al Shamsi; Sultan Saeed bin Dalmook Al Suwaidi; Salem Mohammed Al Rashdi; Majid Al Darwishi Al Shamsi; Ahmed Humaidi Al Ketbi; and Mira Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Secretary General of the Council.

Strengthening parliamentary engagement

Engineer Jamila Al Fandi Al Shamsi welcomed His Excellency the Head of the Human Resources Department and the accompanying delegation, emphasising the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC)'s keenness, through its quality committees, to enhance direct communication channels with government entities and to review their policies and executive programmes, in a way that contributes to enriching the parliamentary debate and to formulating constructive recommendations that support the process of government development in the Emirate.

She explained that this meeting falls within the Council's methodology for the integrated preparation of its sessions, particularly in the context of preparing to discuss Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR)' policy, given the Department's pivotal role in organising human resources affairs, developing the government work environment, and upgrading national competencies, which positively affects the quality of institutional performance and the services provided to the community.

Integration between authorities

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi praised the role of SCC and its committees in supporting government work, emphasising the importance of integration between the executive and legislative authorities to achieve the public interest and contribute to the development of human resources legislation and policies in line with best practice.

SDHR vision and development plans

During the meeting, Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR) outlined its vision, mission, strategic objectives, and development plans to build an integrated government human resources system capable of keeping pace with future changes and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The meeting also reviewed the Department's efforts in Emiratisation, policy and functional system development, continuous performance improvement, and the review of procedures to enhance efficiency and institutional flexibility, in addition to its interest in measuring service recipients' satisfaction, listening to their suggestions, and benefiting from best practices and leading examples.

Continued coordination

During the meeting, the committee members raised a number of observations and enquiries regarding work challenges, development prospects, and capacity-building programmes, and views were exchanged to support the preparation of the themes for the next session.

At the end of the meeting, the committee emphasised the importance of continued coordination and cooperation with Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR), in preparation for discussing its policy under the dome of the Council, in a way that supports the Government of Sharjah’s directions, enhances the efficiency of human resources, and consolidates a stimulating and sustainable government work environment.
