Bayern Munich qualifies for the Champions League Round of 16

Sharjah 24 – AFP: Bayern Munich booked their place in the Champions League Round of 16 after a 2-0 victory over Belgian side Saint-Gilloise in the seventh round of the group stage.

Bayern secure qualification, rivals boost hopes

Bayern Munich became the second team to qualify for the Round of 16, after Arsenal, while Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Barcelona, and Juventus strengthened their chances of direct qualification.

With the win, Bayern raised their tally to 18 points in second place, five points clear of ninth-placed Barcelona. Barcelona are level on points with Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Paris Saint-Germain, separated only by goal difference.

Kane leads Bayern at Allianz Arena

At the Allianz Arena, Harry Kane inspired Bayern Munich to their sixth group-stage victory, scoring both goals in the 2-0 win over Saint-Gilloise despite the German champions playing with ten men.

Kane found the net twice from the penalty spot in the 52nd and 55th minutes, taking his season tally to 34 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions. He narrowly missed a hat-trick after failing to convert another penalty in the 81st minute.
