Engineer Faisal Al Sarkal, Director of the Water Department at SEWA, explained that the Authority is working on implementing water network development projects and extending main lines in various areas of the Emirate of Sharjah. This is in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council.
Ambitious projects
Al Sarkal confirmed that the projects implemented by SEWA to extend main lines and develop the water distribution network during 2025 included the completion of water lines in the Al Hamriyah East area, with a total length of approximately 21 kilometres and an estimated cost of AED 10 million; the implementation of water distribution lines in Al Tais East and West areas, with a network length of 15 kilometres and a total cost of AED 7 million; the project to extend water lines in Al Sajaa Industrial Area (Phase 8), with a length of 21.6 kilometres and a total cost of AED 9.8 million; the implementation of water line extensions in the Al Qutaina 2 area, with a length of 12.5 kilometres and a total cost of AED 10 million. 5.5 million dirhams, a project to extend water distribution lines in Al Qutaynah 5 area by 17 kilometres, at a total cost of 6.85 million dirhams, and the extension of water lines in Al Qutaynah 6 area by approximately 14 kilometres, at a total cost of 5.85 million dirhams.
The implemented projects also included replacing old asbestos water lines with fiberglass-reinforced epoxy in Industrial Area 2 and Maysaloon, with the total length of the replaced network in these two areas being approximately 35 kilometres.
Highest technical specifications and standards
Al Sarkal added that the new water networks and lines implemented by the Authority were completed according to the highest technical specifications and standards, using materials that meet drinking water standards, with the aim of enhancing and ensuring the continuity of service with high quality and efficiency. He also noted that these projects were implemented under the supervision of engineers from the Emirate.
