20,000 evacuated after 5.5-magnitude earthquake hits China’s Gansu

Sharjah24 - WAM: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Tebo County in the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Gansu Province, on Monday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre.

Mass evacuations, No casualties reported

Local authorities confirmed that more than 20,000 residents were evacuated to safe locations as a precautionary measure. No injuries or fatalities have been reported in the affected areas.

Emergency response underway

Following the quake, public security agencies deployed 350 officers to carry out search and rescue operations. The Gansu provincial fire and rescue corps also mobilised 340 personnel, along with 65 vehicles and seven search dogs, to support emergency response efforts in the impacted communities.
