Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah (UOS) showcased its advanced Arabic as a Foreign Language teaching model during a visit by an Indonesian academic and diplomatic delegation, reinforcing the university’s role in promoting cross-cultural education and international collaboration.

His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received the delegation led by His Excellency Denny Lesmana, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai. The visiting group included Dr Safwan Mataf, President of Darunnajah University, representatives from the Indonesian consulate and academic councils, senior UOS officials, and directors of research institutes.

Arabic language as a global cultural asset

During the meeting, Prof. Agamy outlined UOS’ strategy of building strong international academic partnerships grounded in knowledge exchange and shared cultural priorities. He emphasised that teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers is a central pillar of the university’s mission, serving as a vital tool for cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and intellectual exchange.

Expanding cooperation and joint programmes

Discussions focused on collaboration in Arabic language education, including training visits for Darunnajah University students, specialised programmes to prepare Arabic language teachers, and joint academic initiatives. The talks also explored future cooperation in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, computing, and medical sciences, reflecting a broad, forward-looking partnership agenda.
